    • ]]>     xmas-givingAs Christmas draws closer and the big department stores offer great discounts where are you? Some of us are at Walmart, Target, and even the Dollar Store. All we want to do is tell our loved ones that we care enough to say Merry Christmas and Hanukkah.
    It does not matter if we are religious or just loving and caring of those in our lives and even give a little attention to those we see who are going without and that seems to be going around a lot today. I have friends who give out hundreds of gifts. These are for their family, coworkers, friends and those not so fortunate.

    You know I am proud to know them and to know they are so generous. It is not that they bragged about their gifts it was the shopping carts that I saw filled with gifts for those they cared about and many that they did not even know.
    I hope if you have a few dollars you will not only give to family and friends but make sure you give some to those less fortunate. Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas.

    Christmas is the beautiful time for celebration and the joyous tradition of decorating our homes and our hearts. It is one that all families look forward to from trimming the tree, hanging our stocking over the fireplace (or somewhere near our tree) for Santa to fill.     Choosing your “REAL” Christmas Tree..

    1. The Douglas Fir with it’s softer blue green needles has the best aroma and does look lovely.
    2. The Fraser Fir is another popular lighter blue green needles and the most often used Christmas Tree
    3. The White Fir has flat needles with wonderful aroma but because the branches are light weight they cannot withstand heavy decorations.
    4. Balsam Fir oh,what a lovely scent and another very popular Christmas Tree
    5. Blue Spruce many folks hesitate to purchase the blue spruce because they have prickly needles but the branches are stiff and hold heavy decorations so they are a good choice.
    6. Scotch Pine another great tree with great aroma lots of room for decorations
    7. Noble Fir this beautiful blue green needled tree has a silvery look and is used not only for a Christmas Tree with heavy decorations but used to make door wreathes

    Here are a few tips on taking care of your “real” tree.

    1. If you are not going to set up your tree the first day home set in a bucket of water and out of the sun.
    2. When you do have time to bring the tree in cut of about an inch from the bottom before putting in the stand.
    3. Using warm water for the first day will soften the sap and is good for the tree.
    4. The first week your tree will need a quart of water everyday. You may need to check it several times a day for the first week. It is a well known fact that fresh tap water is the best – commercial additives are known to actually increase the loss of needles
    5. Please, please keep your Christmas Tree away from space heaters, wood stoves, televisions, fireplaces or any other heat sources.
    6. THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT - AND PLEASE  AFTER CHRISTMAS DONOT BURN YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE IN THE FIREPLACE AS THIS CAN CAUSE CREOSOTE BUILDUP IN YOUR FIREPLACE AND COULD CREATE A FIRE
