Fall Foliage in Arkansas
Almost a month away Fall Foliage will begin and this year I have been thinking I will go to Arkansas. I have never been there at all limiting myself to visiting New England for this spectacular event. Recently I met a group of very nice folks who highly recommended I make this trip and reserve my lodging more than a month in advance. I am told that the Department of Arkansas Parks and Tourism puts out a report on Thursdays when the colors start to change so that tourists can plan their weekends during peak times which only last 7 to 10 days. So from what I understand the colors start to change in September then peak season is from mid to late October and early November. Brilliant orange, red, and yellow even purple. These trees are the maple, oak, sumac, sassafras, and hickory. This should be interesting since I have never visited the Ozark Mountains. I had better do some research for lodging and pack some warm clothes. I know this is going to be a great adventure.
