About

For those who have the desire to stay "somewhere else," we invite you to spend time with us in our Victorian home built in 1896 by prominent business man Jon Brown and his wife Nancy. The land on which the Washington Street Inn sits was originally purchased from the U.S. government in 1835 while Andrew Jackson was President. It was designed by notable Wells County architect Cuno Kieble. The home was made into an Inn about 2001 and purchased by Don and Kathy Gardner in the fall of 2005.

When you enter the Washington Street Inn you will immediately notice the art of master wood workers. The staircase is made of solid cherry and two fireplaces are also trimmed with cherry, one of which features a stained glass window centered in the mantle for unusual effect. Another stained glass is on the second floor. A classic foyer, the living room, dining room and kitchen all have hardwood floors. Antiques are found throughout the home and includes a 3000 piece Occupied Japan collection, some of which is offered for purchase. The Inn, however, still exudes an atmosphere that might best be described as "comfortable Victorian" with the furnishings attractive, but inviting. There are two porches for relaxation and a peaceful yard to enjoy with seasonal garden accents
